Service Description

Ayurvedic Marma massage is a traditional healing technique unique to the Ayurvedic tradition. Marma points are specific energy points located throughout the body of which there are a total of 107, they are similar to acupuncture points or acupressure points in Chinese medicine. These points are considered vital energy centres where our life force or "prana," is concentrated. Ayurvedic Marma massage involves applying gentle pressure to these marma points to promote healing and balance in the body. The massage techniques used vary but often include circular motions, tapping, and relatively firm strokes. The pressure applied is typically tailored to the individual's constitution (Dosha) and specific needs. Various oils are used, normally heated and applied in a generous fashion. The massage aims to stimulate the flow of prana through the body, remove any blockages or imbalances, and restore harmony to the body, mind, and spirit. By working on selected marma points, it is believed that the massage can have a profound effect on the bodies physiological and energetic systems, including the organs, muscles, nerves, and subtle energy channels known as nadis. This style of massage is well known for its therapeutic benefits, which includes relaxation, stress reduction, pain relief, improved circulation, detoxification, and balancing of the doshas (the fundamental energies in Ayurveda). It is often used as a complementary therapy alongside other Ayurvedic treatments, such as herbal remedies, dietary adjustments, and lifestyle modifications.
